A Winter Bike Ride
>> Sunday, January 16, 2011
This is the weather we woke up to today. It is almost impossible to believe that it's January. It was a warm, beautiful day without a cloud in the sky. This isn't normal for Munich in January. Usually, it's grey, snowy, and absolutely freezing. My husband and I wanted to take full advantage of today, so we we got our bikes out of storage and decided to take a bike ride through the city and the English Garden. I was able to get a few shots, so I thought I would share them with you.
We got out the bikes, pumped up the tires and headed out.
The first place we stopped was Der Pschorr and had lunch. This is one of our favorite places to eat and enjoy a beer. It's a modern version of a beer hall. The inside is so cozy and welcoming and the food is always fantastic.
Once we finished lunch, we hopped back on our bikes and made our way through the city to the English Garden.
This was the scene as we pulled into the garden. It was beautiful. The grass was a rich green and the way the sun hit the buildings was gorgeous.
This is a building at the end of the Hof Garten (the entrance to the English Garden). I loved the way the sky was contrasted against the glass and stone.
We stopped at the Chinese tower and walked around a bit. There were tons of people out today. We definitely weren't the only ones taking advantage of the weather.
There was a Glühwein stand opened next to the Chinese tower so we had a mug and took in the scene. We got back on our bikes and started back home (it starts getting dark here at around 4pm, so the days are short, no matter how beautiful it is).
The scene down the river was great.
We made it back home just before dark and now we're relaxing for the rest of the evening. Have a wonderful Sunday!
Enjoy your time together!
